NFL DRAFT
As the NFL draft (and all the pre draft talent measuring) begins to unfold we thought we'd take a minute and put in our two cents on some of the top rated players that will effect the fantasy football world in 2007 and beyond.
JaMarcus Russell: All the ability in the world and worthy of the first overall pick. But can any one person save Oakland. The question becomes does he save the ship or go down with it? Tough call.
Brady Quinn. If theres talent around him then Quinn is more than capable of becoming an all-pro QB. However if he needs to become the main engine in the machine and generate offense on his own then their could be major problems.
Calvin Johnson: Not since Mr. Rice as there been a talent such as this kid. To give you an idea one scouting report said "compares to Larry Fitzgerald of Arz, only he's (Johnson) bigger and faster" . Hmmm....... this just in Fitzgerald is pretty damn big and fast, so the sky appears to be the limit on Mr. Johnson. Get him if you can in your draft.
Adrian Peterson: Has been called a hybrid of Deuce McAllister and Eddie George, only faster. Not to use the same analogy we used on Johnson, but.... you get the idea. The only problem we see is injuries, he likes to run over defenders and not around them and in the NFL that could be a problem.
Ted Ginn: Gifted athlete who as gotten by on pure god given talent so far. At the next level he will need to better learn technique both in running routes and protecting the football. If all this comes together hes be all-pro if not could be the next Dante Hall.
Dwayne Jarret: There are quicker receivers in this draft and there are stronger receivers in the draft but (with the exception of Johnson) there arent any receivers in the draft who are both quick AND strong to the level Jarret is. Like Ginn he'll need to work on a lot of technique issues at the next level and will probably need to tone down his "tude" about 3 clicks. ( What is it with USC offensive players?)
We'll have a look at more players next week.
